American Legion Baseball Scholarship

This national scholarship is available to qualified American Legion Baseball players.

Awards

• Each Department Baseball Committee may select one Department scholarship recipient.

• Department scholarship winners receive $500.

• Each Department winner is considered for the American Legion All-Academic Team.

• Eight All-Academic Team members receive an additional $2,500.

• The most outstanding All-Academic Team member receives an additional $5,000.

• Nationally, approximately $22,000 to $25,000 is awarded annually.

General application route

The application typically requires certification and recommendations from the applicant’s:

• American Legion Baseball team manager or head coach;

• sponsoring American Legion Post commander;

• school official; and

• Department Baseball Committee.

The applicant normally submits information concerning academic achievement, school and community involvement, leadership, financial need, and participation in American Legion Baseball.

The Department Baseball Committee selects and certifies the Texas nominee. The current Department baseball page directs applicants and Posts to the national Baseball Resources section for scholarship forms and current rules.

Important: Local and Department deadlines can be earlier than national processing dates. Posts should verify the current deadline with the Department of Texas Baseball Committee each season.
